sThe following order is created based on the picture quality and the ease of use the platform provides, as well as there clarity on their picture licenses.

Unsplash allows you to use their images for free. You can take the pictures for commerical and personal use. The only thing you are not allowed to do is building competing image library. Obviously.
The great thing about unsplash is, that you don’t have to worry about licenses, because all of the images on the plattorm are free. The quality is splendid and
no interrupting ads are in place. Thumbs up.

Pixabay claims that they have over a million free images and they are all free. The platform also offers free vectors, illustrations and videos. You can use the content of Pixabay personally and commercially. I personally think their picture quality is really great and you always find a picture suiting your needs.

Free Images has about 380.000 free pictures and illustrations. As the licenses may vary among the images, you have to keep in mind, that in some use-cases the pictures can be used only with a attribution to the artist.
To download the pictures there is no signup required. The only shortage is that there is sometimes a redirect to istockphoto.

The platform Gratisography has about 1000 free pictures. That’s very little compared to unsplash. However, Gratisography takes a different approach.
